IMSTA is proud to announce that its long awaited Piracy Survey is now ready.

This is the chance end-users have been waiting for to say what is on their minds to the music software companies. To ensure that as many people have the opportunity to participate as possible, IMSTA invites all its members and supporters to download the image bellow, resize it to fit their respective web sites, and place it on their web sites with a link to the following URL:

Hi there,

Thanks for the post.

If I understand things well, you had a problem submitting your answers to the survey right? Was there an error message or some kind of 404 blank page?

I will let the folks at IMSTA know about this in case they didn't yet read this.

Thanks again for your time.

Well, I do not know whether I had a problem or not, and I think that is a problem. When I sent the form I got to the IMSTA homepage without any notice that the form had been successfully sent.

Please excuse my English, I am no native speaker.

Hi

Once you submit the survey, it will take you to the IMSTA web site.

This means that you are OK and that we have your response to the survey.

Thank you,
IMSTA

OK, that's good.

I still think a short notice that the form was sent successfully would be nice.

took the survay.
makes me think alot.
i actually hate alot of copy protection with a passion, as i have been screwed over by companies (Adobe AKA Satan's Army) and their copy protection schemes.

because of Ultra annoying Copyprotection Schemes, i am Using FL-Studio. it probably has the easiest copy protection ever, but then again, it is probably the most widely cracked audio application.
truth be told, no matter how much a company tries to stop piracy, it isnt going to work. someone is always going to breach your program. and thats just how it is. by making more and more restrictave copy protection, your are encouraging piracy.
hell, ive been tempted to use cracked versions of software ive paid for because it makes it easier to access the program (thats an ethical debate in the works, ain't it? wink.gif )
Line 6 ties thier copy protection to their audio devices, making things easier on the user. the application needs the audio device anyways, so why not?
ive had to reinstall pro-tools multiple times, and seeing as the mbox is the real copy protection, ive had no issue.

dongles, a wonder, and a curse too. $50 for an iLok is more then slightly insane (yeha, thats how much they cost in canadian dollars). i havnt had the need for one, but when i buy ReFX nexus, i will need one (though its syncrosoft), and i am affriad of fees that may be encountered if i buy a new pc, and i want to install on the new one, or if i loose the dongle (though ReFX is very good with customer support).
when I think about piracy, and cracking teams, i start to think About React-OS.
this is a recreation of the windows NT kernel, aimed at creating a completely free version of windows.
they already have it runing exe files, acting like windows, and even running games such as quake, halo, diablo 2, and Unreal Tournament. (http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html)
surely this must be illegal in some way or another, right? seems not.

The Wine project for linux implements a windows layer into the Linux Operating System, allowing windows applications to function perfictly like (and in some cases better then) they would in in windows.
again, is this illegal, and considered infringing on microsoft?
(probably not, as google has funded the wine project in the past)
http://www.winehq.org/

seriously,
pissing off customers with copy protection schemes is very bad.
I have noticed that the Very small companies are the only ones that seem to have the slightest hair of care in their minds towards customers.

the worst culprit for anti-piracy is microsoft. i am so extremely frusterated with the complete jerks at their offices i dont know what to do. if my pc didnt come with Vista, i would be running Ubuntu only. (my reinstall CDs completely bypass the "genuine check", as they are pc images.)

Not really, there was just no message indicating the submission had worked.
