I felt moved enough by recent (and ongoing) experience with your amp sim plugs to come here and give some praise.

I really like your amp sims, and think they're some of the best that I've tried. I got the California Tone during the free plug-in promotion and thought it was great, and that enjoyment led me to join the group buy when it happened. I then discovered that the other amp sims excelled in their categories as well. The American Tweed is pretty fantastic and really has that authentic Fender vibe to it, which is quite an achievement. The Magic Queen sure seems to nail that Vox tone as well, and while it's hardly my favorite sound, I actually do enjoy having such a good emulation at hand (and you'll soon see why). I haven't used the British much, but again it certainly seems to capture the essence of a Marshall.

So, kudos to you guys for doing a great job on those sims.

But, there's more: Beyond that, these plug-ins actually work SURPRISINGLY well at repairing and enhancing guitar recordings that are already amped! It's really unexpected, but it's true.

I'm mixing a synth-pop album that consists of a ton of VI tracks that the band did on their own, with vocals, guitar and trumpet recorded at a studio. Unfortunately, the majority of the guitar tones completely SUCK. Like, atrocious garbage, new levels of spectacularly awful. They sound horrid and completely ruin the otherwise great material. It's really a huge disaster. There was no direct signal captured, and so I have the hugely unenviable task of salvaging the guitars and preventing them from ruining the whole album (rerecording the guitars is just not an option that the band has).

I've spent dozens of hours using all of the spectral shaping tools at my disposal, to no avail. These tones are so horrific that no amount of wizardry with EQ, dynamics, fancy spectral stuff, etc. can make them better.

I had no other resort than to try to apply tone plugs (pedal/amp/cab sims) to the already toned recordings. This really isn't something that one should expect to work well, and my initial success with SansAmp PSA-1, Eleven, and Amplitube were helping but not enough to matter.

However, to my great surprise, it was P&M's American Tweed and Magic Queen that did the impossible and took the tones to a level that was decent enough (with plenty of dialing in, and still needing plenty of EQ and other spectral treatment on top) to salvage the parts!

The Tweed is doing the brunt of the work, given the type of just slightly crunchy OD tone that the guys were trying to achieve and which their engineer totally failed to pull off. But there's a part in one of the tunes with a clearly more middy/nasal tone that the Tweed didn't help with, but which the Queen totally rocked.

I'm only part way through this wacky adventure, and I expect I'll continue to keep relying on your sims to save the day in the rest of the songs. I'll certainly be trying them first and putting my faith in them, because they've delivered where no others were able.
